Section through a Cut in Floor, Timber framed Building Part 2

G’day welcome back to Buildsum and this is the second video on a timber frame and Cut in floor as you can see we’ve already got our strip footing in We’ve done our Bob footing our isolated pier our dwarf wall and engaged pier our damp proof course and our ant cappping our bearer are in joists are in and we’ve just put the wall on and I was just explaining how that we leave this first joist Only half under the wall, we only sit the wall half on the joist so they’ve got room to pick up our floor So the walls pretty standard, we’ve got our bottom plate. We’ve got you know Jamb stud, common stud Noggins, window sill in this case Window stud here next to the window of course our lintel, our top plate, then have ribbon plate iand our trusses So this will be all very familiar if you’ve watched the other videos, our fascia our Bellcast batten and our first row of batten to take our anti-ponding board Just a sheet of fibro and then we can put on our sarking and our tile battens and the roof tiles So now we have actually got the roof on we can do one step in our strip flooring process and what we normally do at this step Is we bring in the strip flooring and we cut up the length, and we loosely lay it in the room We don’t nail it down or fix it in any way we’re just loosely like in the room what that does It allows The flooring to season to the moisture content on the building site Not the pre dried moisture content that it came at The actual moisture content of your site, so it will expand or contract a little bit in this process and the longer we can leave it here on our site loosely fitted the better Normally a month would be good but the longer the better so as soon as we get the roof on while we’re waiting to get the building clad and locked up We can lay down our flooring lets it season and it also gives us something to walk on while the rest the buildings built all right, but we don’t fix it at this stage, so In the next video the next part, I’ll show the cladding process, and how we finish off the inside of the building
