Rainforest is a brazilian team composed by 8 students Alan Carolina Davi Lucas Lucas Mariana Yago Werbson We know that more than half of population live in the poverty and 54 per cent of the world’s population lives in urban areas. The world’s urban population is expected to have grown to almost 5 billion by 2030. We also know that many people will be living in extreme poverty and it will be a direct impact on food security food production and sustainability. So, we have to answer a big question here… Is it possible to have at the same time urban growth and susteinable food production? As students we have to care about the accelerated development of large cities and the about improvement in the life quality of the people. Because we know that, in many cases, the growth of large cities does not ensure a better quality of life for all citizens. People will need water, health and food, deserve the most basic and the most relevant requirements. Thinking about that, our group is focused to bring all our knowledge and also use all the resources that are within our reach to build the greenhouse with the main motivation, the transformation in the people’s lives who will be affected by it. Our group members have already worked with social projects, being engaged with food production in agroforestry systems, community gardens, child education, livelihood and small farmers so that’s why the “Rainforest” believe that students have the power to transform the world. We are the world, we are connected with the world We are studying and we really think that we can make the difference in people’s lives. The “Rainforest” is more than a simple team now we represent the Brazilian’s people who needs help. We represent the world’s population which is living in poverty. In this challenge what inspire us is the people’s smiles, the strong people who are fighting against the challenges of live the children who will be our future and the elder population which have done much for us Now the rainforest team have the chance to represent all those people and make their life better.
