MOVING OR NEW TO BOISE? Check out Edwards Greenhouse.

Hi, I’m Jennifer Louis. Hi, I’m David Louis. -Welcome to Boise and Beyond -Today we are in the beautiful and historic Edwards greenhouse. They are located at 4106 Sand Creek Street in Northwest Boise -David and I absolutely LOVE this greenhouse and we’re not the only ones. We’re gonna tell you today why all the locals always recommend this beautiful place. Let’s go ahead and talk with the owners of this family-owned hidden gem, mother and daughter, Garnette and Erin. Thank you ladies so much for having us here today. We’re so excited to talk to both of you. -Thank you So why don’t you tell us the history of this amazing greenhouse? We know its fourth generation It’s been in the family for a long time. How did it come to be what it is today? -Well, my grandparents settled in this area at the turn of the century and They had a truck farm here and built the first greenhouse in 1930 to grow vegetables off season and my father took it over in 1947 and began growing cut flowers and bedding plants that he delivered all throughout southern Idaho and I came into the business in 1982 when this one was a year old and You know my emphasis has just been on growing it and making it more customer friendly and now Erin is on the threshold of taking the business over and being the fourth generation. -Wow, congratulations! -Thank you. -So tell us why this Green house is unique from others in the area and the nurseries around town. Why should people come check it out? Um, well one unique feature is we have geothermal water. So that’s how we heat through the winter and it also allows us to grow a lot of different varieties and we grow a lot of what we sell here on-site we do have greenhouses in Emmett too that we grow for spring production and we also have really experienced and passionate staff. A lot of our managers have been here for 15, 20, 25 years and so they bring a lot of passion to their department and I think that really shines That was one of the things that stuck out to us when we came just the passion and the knowledge of the employees that work Here and how excited they are to talk to you about everything so that brings me to another question. What is your favorite flower or plant here? My favorite flower is that flower that the customer is happily carrying out the door to plant in their garden I love Begonias. I love all varieties of Begonias I really love tuberous Begonias and the Rex Begonias just always been a favorite of mine and I always thought if I ever had a little girl I’d call her Begonia So everyone recommended Edwards Greenhouse to us when we moved here so what would you recommend as a local business here in Boise? we kind of talked about and we felt Record Exchange is a place that we often frequent and and we love music and they’re a big part of the community. Yeah. -Well, thank you so much It was so nice talking with both of you. We’re gonna go check out some flowers here and see what’s going on. -Thank you -Thank you for watching today we are real estate agents in this beautiful area -We know that owning a house is more than just the home you live in it’s also about the community So if you’re thinking about buying or selling a house, we’d love to share our knowledge and experience of this great city with you So give us a call. We’d love to chat Okay, can I take a picture of you ladies -Yes!
