Integrated – Greenhouse Gas Management Plan Development Team

There’s nothing like
walking into a room with people who want to do
the work that you want to do. Everyone’s on board
and ready to go. We’ve gotten through that piece
of realizing how important greenhouse gas management is. And now it’s all about
making it actually happen. This is the Greenhouse Gas
Management Plan Development team. For so long in
our history, we’ve never really thought
of greenhouse gases as being something
that’s manageable. It’s always been just a
byproduct of our operations. And so now we’re identifying
that it is something that we need to
control and work with and integrating that
into our operations. Sustainability and
climate change mitigation is one of those
topics where it has to be integrated into
every department, whether it’s fire rescue,
whether it’s libraries, whether it’s our rec centers,
or our urban planning policies and transit policies. All of that has to work together
to touch on this huge challenge of climate change mitigation. Because we are a group that has
several different disciplines, it fosters an internal
attitude, I guess, of integration and consultation. You had all of these
key stakeholders bringing all of their past
initiatives to the table and helping inform,
perhaps, where we could go where, we can
improve with the next iteration of this plant. And energy management and
greenhouse gas management is all about being change agents
for integration and change agents for people interested in
having a different discussion. And to actually see it happen
in a planned development, it’s just thrilling. And to see other people
see that and recognize it makes it even better.
